DaNaya Burnett, Site Coordinator

DaNaya Burnett is a lead Site Coordinator at the Culture Academy at the Champaign Freedom School. She is a School Counselor with the Urbana School district and uses data to develop and inform the school counseling program and evaluates the program’s impact on the school’s instructional goals. She also designs, implements, and assesses the guidance curriculum through responsive counseling. DaNaya also served as a Junior Servant Leader in the Champaign Freedom School from 2010-2012.

Keyonte’ Cobb, Site Coordinator

Keyonte’ Cobb is a lead Site Coordinator at the Culture Academy at the Champaign Freedom School. He is the After School Program Director, Administrative Assistant, and Supervisor of Beyond the Books Academy in Atlanta, Georgia and is responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day operations of the program, as well as staff, and implementing quality enrichment programming. Keyonte’ also served as a Junior Servant Leader, Assistant to Site Coordinator, and Servant Leader Intern in the Champaign Freedom School between 2010 and 2012.

Drake Materre (Haki Shabazz), Servant Leader Intern

Drake Materre (Haki Shabazz) is a Servant Leader Intern at the Culture Academy at the Champaign Freedom School. He is a musician, Project Manager at Natural Path Nutrition, Inc. and a graduate student in the Masters of Public Health program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Alicia Robinson, Project Director

Dr. Alicia Robinson is the Project Director of the Culture Academy at the Champaign Freedom School. She recently earned her PhD in Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she has honed her skills as a youth advocate, a teacher educator, and a scholarly researcher. Alicia’s belief in the philosophy that “It takes a village to raise a child” fuels her daily efforts to partner with students, parents, and teachers to ensure that all children thrive inside and outside of academic spaces.

Candace Livingston, Servant Leader Intern

Candace Livingston is a Servant Leader Intern at the Culture Academy at the Champaign Freedom School. She is a writer, abolitionist, and Ph.D. student in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.Her purpose is to “provoke, educate, and uplift.” Prior to entering U of I, she taught 7th grade scholars World History in Charleston, SC and was the coach of IMMACULATE STEP of C.E.Candace believes in the power of people and has worked with organizations that center justice for Black and Brown people such as the Exodus Foundation, #ProtectSCPrisoners, and the Carolina Youth Action Project. She currently organizes with DEFUND UIPD and the Graduate Employees' Organization (GEO).
